La bella Reina del Carnaval de Mazatlán toda su vida ha estado vinculada  a la máxima fiesta del puerto.

De niña veía el desfile de carros alegóricos desde el balcón de su casa y jugaba con máscaras y coronas. Su adolescencia transcurrió fuera de México y a su regreso aceptó inscribirse en la contienda a Reina del Carnaval, hecho que la acercó a su identidad.

“Fue un gran aprendizaje, una gran experiencia. Haber estado tan cerca de todo el pueblo de Mazatlán me hizo querer más a mi tierra. Conocer  más mis raíces, la historia del lugar de donde vengo, de mis antepasados; al conocer el lugar de dónde soy, conozco también algo de mí”.

Amina Blancarte recuerda con cariño los divertidos ensayos junto a princesas y bailarines, el impresionante escenario de su coronación, las canciones de la artista invitada, Ana Gabriel, y su espectacular entrada al Estadio Teodoro Mariscal que estuvo inspirada en la mitología escandinava. Además, evoca con cariño el inmenso sol que Rigoberto Lewis diseñó para su carroza real.

“La gente disfrutó el desfile con respeto. No hubo cascaronazos. Sentí  mucho cariño,  mucho amor y respeto de la gente hacia mí: muchos gritos, muchas flores”,  comparte Amina vía telefónica.

Sin embargo, los recuerdos más entrañables de Amina vienen de su extenuante labor como embajadora de Mazatlán en México y el mundo.

“Estuve muy activa durante el año de mi reinado. Hice muchos viajes. Recuerdo haber acompañado al Presidente Municipal Martín Gavica, recuerdo a su esposa Anabella, que en paz descanse, en los viajes a Ciudades Hermanas, al Tianguis Turístico de Acapulco. Fuimos a diferentes viajes de promoción del Carnaval o de la ciudad y me tocó ser traductora del señor Presidente Municipal. Estuve de jurado en muchos concursos de belleza a nivel local, en rancherías, en escuelas; visité el Asilo de Ancianos. Participé en las campañas que daban regalos a los niños el Día de Reyes. Fui una reina que de verdad participó mucho”.

Su presencia constante en eventos de la más diversa índole le ganaron el cariño de la gente y el respeto de la comunidad al ver en ella a una excepcional representante de la cultura porteña.

“La prensa fue extraordinaria conmigo. Me eligieron junto a varios empresarios y gente importante de Mazatlán como una de las 10 personas de mayor influencia en el puerto en alguna ocasión. La prensa me trataba con mucho cariño y respeto. Me hicieron sentir muy importante. No era común que una Reina del Carnaval sobresaliera en ese tipo de recuentos de fin de año; cuando hacían una revisión de la vida pública de Mazatlán y alguien publicaba algo así sobre mí era un gran halago”.

Y esta forma de asumir su reinado como una responsabilidad ante la comunidad le permite ahora, a sus 43 años, reflexionar sobre la llamada cultura de la “reinitis”, una forma muy propia del ser y sentir de las mujeres porteñas.

 “Creo que viene del hecho de que el Carnaval tiene más de un siglo de vida: que en un principio se hizo exclusivamente para niñas de familias adineradas y la gente las veía como realeza de verdad y se haya convertido en una aspiración tener una Corona de Carnaval. Después esto se ha transformado en un puesto que lo puede adquirir cualquier niña por medio de los concursos, ya no por medio de dinero. Es muy padre ver cómo todas las mujeres puede aspirar a eso y cómo al volverse una meta va creando en ti el amor al Carnaval; el querer verte bien,  prepararte para ese escenario, ser alegres y fiesteras, todo eso lo tenemos las mazatlecas”.

Al reflexionar sobre su trayectoria Amina Blancarte se da cuenta que, de una u otra forma, se ha mantenido vigente en el corazón de la fiesta al participar como jurado o conductora en la Elección de Reinas; pero sobre todo al vivir con otro tipo de emociones cada evento del Carnaval.

“Todo lo aprecio de una manera más madura, distinta, como si estuviera tras bambalinas. Me gusta mucho  participar y colaborar. Entonces siempre estoy recordando, desde mi reinado hasta los carnavales de ahora, con mucho gusto y poniendo mi granito de arena para que el Carnaval siga siendo un evento tan esperado por todos los mazatlecos y que luzca  a nivel nacional”.

Así, la Reina del Carnaval de 1993 destaca el papel esencial de las fiestas carnestolendas para dar fuerza y unión a Mazatlán y mantenerse vigente como la máxima celebración de la identidad patasalada.

“Lo más importante que logramos en el Carnaval es unirnos, es un momento en el que sentimos el orgullo por nuestra tierra, la alegría de haber nacido ahí. El ser afortunados de estar en este lugar privilegiado, tan hermoso, tan bendecido, porque tenemos todo. En Carnaval celebramos quiénes somos, dónde estamos y lo que tenemos; lo afortunados que somos de vivir en esta tierra, como dice la canción, “el gran orgullo de ser de Mazatlán”.

Por último, Amina Blancarte compartió su emoción al pensar en  su homenaje de 25 años y tener la oportunidad de volver a encontrarse con el pueblo de Mazatlán, de recordar lo que es ser amada y celebrada por la gente de su tierra.

“Sólo me queda expresar agradecimiento. Estoy muy agradecida de que me tomen en cuenta. De que vayan a hacer este homenaje y nada más quiero pedirle a la gente que me eche muchas porras”.

Amina Blancarte, a golden queen

Amina Blancarte, Queen of the Carnaval Internacional Mazatlán 1993 is excited because on Saturday, February 10, she will feel the affection of the people of Mazatlan during the homage for her first 25 years of reign.

The beautiful Queen of Carnaval Mazatlan has been linked to the maximum fiesta of the port her whole life.

As a child, she watched the parade of floats from the balcony of her house and played with masks and crowns. Her adolescence was spent outside of Mexico and on her return, she accepted to register in the contest for “Reina del Carnaval”, a fact that brought her closer to her identity.

"It was a great learning experience. Having been so close to the entire town of Mazatlan made me want to love this land more, to learn more about my roots, the history of where I come from, my ancestors; when I know where I am from, I also know something about myself. "

Amina Blancarte fondly remembers the fun rehearsals with princesses and dancers, the impressive setting of her coronation, the songs of the guest artist, Ana Gabriel, and her spectacular entrance to the Teodoro Mariscal Stadium that was inspired by Scandinavian mythology. In addition, she evokes with affection the immense sun that Rigoberto Lewis designed for her real float.

"People enjoyed the parade with respect. There were no shell. I felt a lot of love, a lot of love and respect from the people towards me: many shouts, many flowers," shares Amina via telephone.

However, the most endearing memories of Amina come from her strenuous work as an ambassador for Mazatlan in Mexico and the world.

"I was very active during the year of my reign. I made many trips. I remember having accompanied the Municipal President Martín Gavica, I remember his wife Anabella, may she rest in peace, on trips to Sister Cities, to the Tourist Tianguis of Acapulco. We went to different trips to promote Carnaval or the city and I had to be a translator for the Municipal President. I was a judge in many beauty contests at the local level, in ranches, in schools; I visited the Nursing Homes. I participated in the campaigns that gave gifts to children on Three Kings Day. I was a queen who really participated a lot. "

Her constant presence in events of the most diverse nature earned her the affection of the people and the respect of the community to see as an exceptional representative of the Mazatlecan culture.

"The press was extraordinary with me. I was chosen along with several businessmen and important people from Mazatlan as one of the 10 most influential people in the port on occasion. The press treated me with a lot of love and respect. They made me feel very important. It was not common for a Carnaval Queen to excel in that kind of end-of-the-year count; When they did a study of public life of Mazatlan and someone published something like that about me, it was a great compliment. "

And this way of assuming her reign as a responsibility to the community now allows her, at 43, to reflect on the so-called culture of "being a queen", a very typical way of being and feeling of Mazatlecan women.

 "I think it comes from the fact that Carnaval has been around more than a century: that at first it was made exclusively for girls from wealthy families and people saw them as real royalty and it has become an aspiration to have a Crown of Carnaval. Then this has been transformed into a position that any girl can acquire through competitions, not through money. It is very important to see how all women can aspire to that and how to reach a goal by creating in you the love of Carnaval; the desire to see yourself doing well, prepare for that stage, be happy and partying, all that we Mazatlecas have.

Reflecting on her career, Amina Blancarte realizes that in one way or another, she has remained in force at the heart of the fiesta by participating as a judge or host in the Election of the Queens; but above all, when experiencing every Carnaval event with lots of emotions.

"I appreciate everything in a more mature, different way, as if I were behind the scenes. I really like to participate and collaborate. So I am always remembering, from my reign to the Carnavals of now, with great pleasure and doing my bit so that Carnaval continues to be an event so long awaited by all of Mazatlan and that it appears at the national level ".

Thus, the Queen of Carnaval of 1993 highlights the essential role of Carnaval celebrations to give strength and unity to Mazatlan and remain in force as the ultimate celebration of the Patasalada identity.

"The most important thing that we achieved in the Carnaval is to unite, it is a moment in which we feel pride in our land, the joy of being born there. To be fortunate to be in this privileged place, so beautiful, so blessed, because we have everything. In Carnaval we celebrate who we are, where we are and what we have; how fortunate we are to live in this land, as the song says, "the great pride of being from Mazatlan".

Finally, Amina Blancarte shared her excitement at the thought of her 25-year homage and having the opportunity to once again meet the people of Mazatlan, to remember what it is to be loved and celebrated by the people of her land.

"I can only express gratitude. I am very grateful that you take me into account. That they are going to do this tribute and I just want to ask people to cheer me up."
