Descrito como “Una bomba de fisicalidad” por Claudia Lavista, Codirectora de la Escuela Profesional de Danza de Mazatlán y Codirectora de la compañía Delfos Danza Contemporánea, Caída libre promete ser un complejo, rico y diverso espectáculo que fluirá a partir del encuentro de la danza contemporánea con otras disciplinas.
En física, se denomina caída libre al movimiento de un cuerpo bajo la acción de un campo gravitatorio. El arte de caer no se aprende, sólo implica decidirse a dar el salto, dedicarse al arte es asumir esta caída como ave que planea entre las corrientes.
Caída libre promete ser una emocionante serie de performances creados por maestros y alumnos de esta institución que transforman el espacio escénico, reinventando lenguajes que dialogan desde el cuerpo en el tiempo y el espacio para conformar un caleidoscopio de ideas.
Como cereza del pastel Caída Libre presentará “Sparring Sky”, una pieza que años atrás los ganadores del Premio Nacional de Danza de España 2016, Virginia García y Damián Muñoz de la compañía La Intrusa montaron con Delfos Danza Contemporánea y recientemente fue adaptada para que los alumnos de la EPDM se luzcan en su función de graduación.
Con 16 generaciones graduadas la Escuela Profesional de Danza de Mazatlán, bajo la dirección artística de la compañía Delfos Danza Contemporánea, ha tenido el privilegio de ser testigo y cómplice de los sueños de un grupo de jóvenes que han encontrado en esta institución educativa las herramientas necesarias para poder pulir con calma y perseverancia el diamante de su talento.
La EPDM cuenta con un completo programa de estudios conformado bajo el concepto de la educación artística interdisciplinaria; además, tiene un programa de residencias por medio del cual se han impartido cursos y creado coreografías con importantes artistas y maestros de danza nacionales y extranjeros de países como México, Italia, Venezuela, España, Canadá, Polonia, Sudáfrica, Alemania y Estados Unidos entre otros.
Cada año se presenta una prolífica creación de obras coreográficas, proyectos interdisciplinarios y acciones culturales encaminadas a formar cuerpos entrenados, pero sobre todo, a cultivar formas de pensar, posturas artísticas, filosóficas y políticas.

José Limón Festival of Dance 2017 says goodbye with "Free Fall"
With the premiere of the piece "Sparring sky" created by the winners of the Premio Nacional de Danza of Spain 2016 (national dance award in Spain), among other pieces of the Free Fall program, the Professional School of Dance of Mazatlan will close the 31st Edition of Jose Limon Festival of Dance 2017 with a flourish on Saturday, the 29th of June at 8 pm in the Angela Peralta Theater.

In physics, the movement of a body under the action of a gravitational field is called free fall. The art of falling is not learned, it refers only to deciding to make the leap, to devote oneself to the art, is to be like a bird that plans its path between currents.
Free Fall promises to be an exciting series of performances created by teachers and students of this institution which transforms the stage space, reinventing languages that speak from the body in time and space to conform a kaleidoscope of ideas.

Like the cherry on the cake, Free Fall will present "Sparring Sky", a piece that years ago the winners of the Premio Nacional de Danza of Spain 2016, Virginia Garcia and Damian Muñoz of La Intrusa dance company mounted with Delfos danza contemporanea and recently was adapted for the students of the EPDM to shine on their graduation.
16 generations have graduated from the School of Professional Dance of Mazatlan, under the artistic direction of the Delfos contemporary dance company, they have had the privilege of being witness and accomplice of the dreams of a group of young people who have found the necessary tools in this educational institution to polish the diamond of their talent with calm and perseverance.
The EPDM offers a complete program of studies formed under the concept of interdisciplinary art education; In addition, it has a residency program by which courses and created choreographies have been taught with important artists and national and foreign dance teachers from countries such as Mexico, Italy, Venezuela, Spain, Canada, Poland, South Africa, Germany and the United States among others.
Each year there is a prolific creation of choreographic works, interdisciplinary projects and cultural actions to form trained bodies, but above all, to cultivate ways of thinking, artistic, philosophical positions and policies.
