Su amor por el Carnaval de Mazatlán se remonta a más de 10 años atrás. Un día ella y sus hermanas veían la televisión en su casa y se encontraron con una transmisión en vivo del desfile de Carnaval, momento que marcó su infancia.
“Estaba muy pequeña. Recuerdo que las tres juntas veíamos la tele en el cuarto de mi papá y la mayor de nosotras dijo que ya iba a empezar el desfile de carros alegóricos, reinas y princesas. Lo vimos y no podíamos creer que algo tan bonito estuviera pasando aquí en Mazatlán. Desde entonces el Carnaval se convirtió en una tradición familiar que repetimos año con año”.
Actualmente Elsie tiene 20 años, estudia nutrición, es aficionada a los videojuegos y su pasatiempo favorito es la fotografía. Reconoce que le apasiona captar la belleza de la vida detrás de una cámara, pero la invitación para audicionar e intentar ser candidata a Reina del Carnaval le despertó emociones tan fuertes que no pudo dejar pasar la oportunidad.
Elsie Muzquiz imagina que ser Reina del Carnaval sería una experiencia muy fascinante en la que estaría siempre expuesta al glamour de los reflectores y estaría rodeada de personas importantes, pero más que eso le gustaría utilizar su reinado para generar consciencia social en las personas.
“No me interesa ser la Reina que luzca más en las reuniones; a la reina se le recuerda por sus acciones. Me gustaría hacer campañas sobre cosas de importancia para el puerto, consciencia sobre valores o temas como el cuidado de las playas y ser la difusora de esta hermosa fiesta que une a las personas desde hace más de 100 años”.

Elsie Alejandra Muzquiz has loved Carnaval since she was little
Elsie Alejandra Rosas Muzquiz has many academic and personal goals of medium and long term, but in the present she has her eyes fixed on January 20, day that she will compete at the Angela Peralta Theater for one of the two crowns of the Carnaval Internacional Mazatlan 2018.
Her love for Carnaval Mazatlan dates back more than 10 years. One day she and her sisters watched television at home and they found a live broadcast of the Carnaval parade, a moment that marked her childhood.
"I was very small. I remember that the three of us together watched TV in my dad´s room and the oldest of us said that the parade of floats, queens and princesses was about to start. We saw it and we could not believe that something so beautiful was happening here in Mazatlan. Since then, Carnaval has become a family tradition that we repeat year after year. "
Currently Elsie is 20 years old, studies nutrition, is fond of video games and her favorite pastime is photography. She recognizes that she is passionate about capturing the beauty of life behind a camera, but the invitation to audition and try to be a candidate for Queen of Carnaval woke up her emotions, so strongly that she could not pass up the opportunity.
Elsie Muzquiz imagines that being Queen of Carnaval would be a very fascinating experience in which she would always be exposed to the glamor of the spotlight and be surrounded by important people, but more than that she would like to use her reign to generate social awareness in people.
"I´m not interested in being the Queen that is at more meetings; the queen is remembered for her actions. I would like to campaign on things of importance to the port, awareness of values or issues such as care of the beaches and be the disseminator of this beautiful fiesta that has united people for more than 100 years.
