Previo a su ensayo, las cantantes Rebeca De Rueda, Mariela Angulo y Flor Estrada expresan su emoción porque están a punto de interpretar a tres monjas del convento donde Suor Angelica es recluida por su familia para que pague “el pecado” de haber tenido un hijo fuera del matrimonio.
Protagonizado por Dhyana Arom y María Luisa Tamez, este drama conmovedor se acompaña de la música más bella de Giacomo Puccini para provocar una somera lectura sobre la violación de los derechos humanos más elementales.
Participan destacadas solistas, la Camerata Mazatlán, músicos de la OSSLA, el Coro Guillermo Sarabia y las tiernas voces del Coro Infantil del Instituto de Cultura, todos bajo la dirección artística de Enrique Patrón De Rueda.
Rebeca De Rueda, Mariela Angulo y Flor Estrada esperan que su trabajo artístico en Suor Angelica, con música y letra preciosa, trascienda y logre tocar el corazón del público durante las funciones.
La soprano mazatleca Rebeca De Rueda deja en el pasado a los personajes de Adina, Donna Anna, Julieta, Susanna, Michaela, Manon, Violetta, incluso Musetta que marcó su debut en La Boheme de Puccini, para internarse en el mundo de la Hermana Genovieeffa.
Dueña de una bella y dulce voz rica en armónicos que le dan la libertad de abordar roles contrastantes, Rebeca De Rueda define a su próximo personaje como la felicidad del convento:
"Es la única luz en la ópera, dentro del convento Genovieeffa es la más alegre entre las hermanas", responde.
A su vez la mezzosoprano Mariela Angulo, originaria de Culiacán y maestra en la Escuela de Artes del Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán, interpretará por primera vez a la celadora del convento, y mientras estudia y se deja cautivar por su próximo personaje, prepara también a 22 niños del Coro Infantil para las funciones de este fin de semana.
La contralto mazatleca Flor Estrada interpretará a la maestra de las novicias o “la maestra regañona” como dice ella.
“De seguro por eso me dieron el papel” afirma la cantante entre risas, mientras espera que a través del programa operístico del Festival Cultural Mazatlán, los jóvenes se interesen por estudiar y hacer de las artes, una profesión.
Rebeca De Rueda ha sido premiada en concursos como el “Carlo Morelli” donde recibió el premio Gilda Morelli a la mejor interpretación y el 1er. Lugar en el Concurso Internacional de Canto de Sinaloa. Obtuvo la Beca The Julliard School Music, en México, el premio Instrumenta, premio Girón May, premio Martha Félix, premio Linus Lerner y la beca Plácido Domingo.
Originaria de Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mariela Angulo inició sus estudios de Canto con el Mtro. Mario Aguilar; es egresada de Escuela de Música de la Universidad de Guadalajara y realizó conciertos y grabaciones a nivel profesional con el Coro “Regina Pacis” bajo la dirección del Mtro. Engelberto Aguilar. Perteneció al Coro del Ayuntamiento de Guadalajara y en 2010 se incorporó al Coro de Cámara Guillermo Sarabia. Es Licenciatura Canto por la Escuela Superior de Música del Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán.
Flor Estrada es Licenciada en Educación Artística y Licenciada en Canto por la Escuela Superior de Canto de Mazatlán. Maestra de técnica vocal en la carrera técnico teatral de la Escuela de Artes del Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán. Ha tomado clases de técnica vocal con los maestros Martha Félix y Enrique Patrón De Rueda; de perfeccionamiento vocal y coaching con Daniel Villegas (+), Ángel Rodríguez, Enrique Patrón De Rueda, Susan Young, Álvaro Ramírez, Luis Girón May (+), entre otros.

Three nuns are incarnated in Suor Angelica
With the best music of Giacomo Puccini, this Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7, Suor Angelica will be presented, at 8 pm at the Angela Peralta Theater.
Prior to their rehearsal, singers Rebeca De Rueda, Mariela Angulo and Flor Estrada expressed their excitement because they are about to play three nuns from the convent where Suor Angelica is being held by her family to pay for the "sin" of having a child out of wedlock.
Starring Dhyana Arom and Maria Luisa Tamez, this poignant drama is accompanied by the most beautiful music by Giacomo Puccini to provoke a brief interpretation of the violation of the most elementary human rights.
Participants are prominent soloists, the Camerata Mazatlán, OSSLA musicians, the Guillermo Sarabia Choir and the tender voices of the Children´s Choir of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan, all under the artistic direction of Enrique Patrón De Rueda.
Rebeca De Rueda, Mariela Angulo and Flor Estrada hope that their artistic work in Suor Angelica, with music and beautiful lyrics, transcend and manage to touch the heart of the public during the functions.
Mazatlecan soprano Rebeca De Rueda played the characters of Adina, Donna Anna, Julieta, Susanna, Michaela, Manon, Violetta, even Musetta that marked her debut in La Boheme de Puccini in the past, and now enters the world of Sister Genovieeffa .
Owner of a beautiful and sweet voice rich in harmonics that give her the freedom to approach contrasting roles, Rebeca De Rueda defines her next character as the happiness of the convent:
"She is the only light in the opera, inside the convent Genovieeffa, she is the most joyful among the sisters," she replies.
In turn, mezzo-soprano Mariela Angulo, originally from Culiacán, and a teacher at the School of Arts of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan, will play the curator of the convent for the first time, and while she studies and captivates the audience by her next roll, the 22 Children of the Children´s Choir practice for this weekend’s shows.
Mazatlecan contralto Flor Estrada will interpret the teacher of the novices or "the reprimanding teacher” as she says.
"Surely that´s why they gave me the role," says the singer with laughter, while she hopes that through the program of the Mazatlan Cultural Festival, young people will be interested in studying and making the arts a profession.
Rebeca De Rueda has been awarded in competitions like the "Carlo Morelli" where she received the Gilda Morelli award for the best performance and 1st. Place in the International Singing Contest of Sinaloa. She received the the Julliard School Music Scholarship in Mexico, the Instrumenta award, the Girón May award, the Martha Félix award, the Linus Lerner award and the Plácido Domingo scholarship.
Originally from Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mariela Angulo began her singing studies with Mtro. Mario Aguilar; is a graduate of the School of Music of the University of Guadalajara and performed concerts and professional recordings with the "Regina Pacis Choir" under the direction of the Mtro. Engelberto Aguilar. She belonged to the Choir of the Guadalajara City Hall and in 2010 she joined the Guillermo Sarabia Chamber Choir. She has a Bachelor of Music from the Superior School of Music of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan.
Flor Estrada has a Bachelor´s Degree in Arts Education and a Bachelor´s Degree in Canto by the Escuela Superior de Canto de Mazatlán. A Master’s of Vocal Technique in the theatrical technical career of the School of Arts of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán. She has taken vocal technique classes with maestros Martha Felix and Enrique Patrón De Rueda; vocal development and coaching with Daniel Villegas, Ángel Rodríguez, Enrique Patrón De Rueda, Susan Young, Álvaro Ramírez, Luis Girón May, among others.
