“Decidí aspirar a convertirme en reina del 2018 por mi amor infinito al Carnaval: el color, la música, los carros alegóricos y, más que nada, la unión que se forma entre todos los mazatlecos y el poder representar la máxima fiesta para mí sería un orgullo”, dijo la candidata.

En sus memorias, ella se ve junto a sus padres en el desfile, en el combate naval o la quema del malhumor; y es son tantas las emociones que se agolpan en su voz que sólo puede explicarlas con una frase sencilla y contundente.  

“El Carnaval se volvió parte de mí y es algo que si no lo hago, no lo vivo… no soy yo”.

Desde noviembre de 2017, Estefanía se ha sumergido en el ser y el hacer más profundo de la tradición carnavalera, un mundo que la ha maravillado y   da una nueva dimensión a sus motivos para amar la fiesta.

“Esta parte es completamente diferente a la que se ve como  espectador.  Ser parte del carnaval, ser una candidata, es algo espectacular, algo muy hermoso, algo que me gusta y  recomendaría a todas las mujeres mazatlecas que participen. Te das cuenta de todos los preparativos que se hacen y todo lo que se tiene que vivir. Ahora cada momento, cada pasito es diversión y me gustaría que muchas personas lo vivieran”.

La joven estudiante de la Licenciatura en Recursos Humanos y amante de la fotografía confía en que los meses de enero y febrero del 2018 le dejarán imágenes indelebles como aquellas del 2014, cuando en una comparsa japonesa rio a carcajadas, o las inolvidables instantáneas de su infancia en los desfiles del domingo.

Pero sobre todo, Estefanía Nordahl confía en que una de esas imágenes será de la Noche de la Elección de Reinas, con rosas blancas o rosas rojas designándola como una de las soberanas del Carnaval Internacional Mazatlán 2018 que se celebrará del 8 al 13 de febrero bajo el lema Patasalada: el circo de los talentos.

Estefanía Nordahl: Carnaval with great emotion

Paola Estefanía Nordahl Macías brings the colors and sounds of Carnaval to the surface and at 19 she has given herself the opportunity to aspire to be part of the golden history of the maximum fiesta of the port in the 120th edition of the city´s top fiesta.

"I decided to aspire to become the Queen of 2018 because of my infinite love of Carnaval: color, music, floats and, most of all, the union that is formed between all Mazatlan and the power to represent the maximum fiesta. I would be so proud," said the candidate.

In her memories, she has seen the parade, the naval combat, and the Burning of Bad Humor with her parents; and there are so many emotions that go through her that she can only explain them with a simple and forceful phrase.

"Carnaval became part of me and it´s something that if I don’t go, I don’t experience it ... it´s not me".

Since November 2017, Estefanía has immersed herself in the being and deepening of Carnaval tradition, a world that has amazed her and gives a new dimension to her motives for loving the fiesta.

"This part is completely different from what you see as a spectator. Being part of Carnaval, being a candidate, is something spectacular, something very beautiful, something I like and would recommend to all the Mazatlan women who participate. You realize all the preparations that are made and all that you have to experience. Now every moment, every step, is fun and I would like many people to understand it. "

The young student of a Bachelor’s in Human Resources and a lover of photography trusts that the months of January and February 2018 will leave indelible images like those of 2014, when a Japanese dance troupe laughed out loud, or the unforgettable snapshots of her childhood in the parades on Sunday.

But above all, Estefanía Nordahl is confident that one of those images will be of the Night of the Election of Queens, with white roses or red roses designating her as one of the sovereigns of Carnaval Internacional Mazatlan 2018, that will be held from February 8 to 13 with the motto Patasalada: the Circus of the Talents.
