Jéssica López Salazar: seeks to be an authentic ambassador of Mazatlan

Jéssica Margarita López Salazar firmly believes that the Carnaval of Mazatlán is the greatest expression of Mazatlecan culture and for this reason, she seeks to become a queen that through her intelligence manages to contribute significantly to the development of the "Pearl of the Pacific".

At 25, she has a degree in International Marketing and a Masters in Management and Business Development, and has grown up observing that Carnaval shows that love is one of the greatest virtues of Mazatlecos.

"We all love our port: love of culture and love of our traditions because Carnaval unites us all as a family, as friends. This is what the Carnaval promotes. "

Like many Mazatlecans, Jéssica considers her parents as the origin of her relationship with Carnaval and that her passion and interest in the fiesta has changed over the years.

"Before it was an idea of: ´I want to be queen because I want to be on the float. But now, I see it as a commitment; because if I am elected as queen, I would like to do something for my port, something with society, not just live the beautiful part. God willing, and luck is with me, I would like to carry out a project to boost tourism. "

Mazatlan has large areas of opportunity that can be exploited to increase the tourist offerings of the port internationally. I would like to do something taking advantage of my profession and what I have experienced in this Carnaval, the hopeful Queen shares excitedly.

Jéssica points out that "Patasalada: the Circus of the Talents" in a very short time has become part of her most intense experiences since it has led her to know closely how it is done, who does it and what is expected by Mazatlan Carnaval .

"For me it has been fascinating. I see that Cultura is an excellent organization, they are a great team; and from the people what can I tell you? They support you to the fullest! They show you their affection, when you are a candidate there are many people who support you and this is the most beautiful thing: the support of the Mazatlecos, who believe in you and give you encouragement always ".

Finally, this beautiful Mazatlecan stressed her desire to make the name of Mazatlan shine all over the world and, especially, to make the Carnaval become, the best advertisement of “Patasalada” identity.

"Carnaval for me is what defines us. It is our culture, the joy that represents us; we are warm, we are friendly, and Carnaval is all that: it is what represents us and I believe that all the people who come to visit us and enjoy this fiesta will realize how we Mazatlecans are".
