El curso se llevará a cabo de 10:00 a 11:30 horas y estará dirigido a los alumnos de la Escuela de Música del Instituto de Cultura. La capacidad es limitada a veinte personas y los interesados deben inscribirse en la Coordinación Académica.
El objetivo del curso es aumentar el acervo musical de los alumnos y prepararlos a través de las experiencias que la talentosa pianista ha acumulado en sus giras artísticas por más de media docena de países.
Michiyo Morikawa se graduó en la Escuela de Toho Gakuen, bajo la dirección de la profesora Yoriko Takahashi y tiene una maestría en el “Manhattan School of Music” bajo la dirección del maestro Karl Ulrich Schnabel, hijo del célebre pianista Arthur Schnabel.
Actualmente reside en Nueva York donde desempeña una intensa labor pedagógica en la Third Street Music School Settlement y en la Greenwich House Music School y actúa como pianista acompañante en ensambles y conciertos al lado de figuras como el barítono mazatleco José Adán Pérez.
La maestra Morikawa ha recibido numerosos galardones, entre los que destacan el Primer Premio y el Premio Especial del Compositor en el XII Concurso de piano “Premi Ciutat de Berga” en Cataluña, España; el 6° Premio en el “World Piano Competition” en Estados Unidos; el premio especial “Música Española” en el Concurso Ignacio Cervantes, en La Habana, Cuba; el primer premio en el concurso JAA en la ciudad de Nueva York; Primer Lugar de piano del 3er. Concurso Jóvenes Solistas realizado en la Ciudad de México y el 2° lugar en el 1er. Concurso Nacional de Piano “Ciudad de Xalapa” en Veracruz, entre otros.
Como solista se ha presentado en países como Japón, Argentina, Finlandia, México, Estados Unidos, Italia y Costa Rica, entre otros, donde han elogiado su gran dominio de la técnica instrumental y le han entregado reconocimientos como el “Diploma de Artista Honoraria” por parte de la Universidad de Guadalajara.

Michiyo Morikawa will teach free course of solfeggio in the classrooms of Cultura
After her brilliant performance in the Angela Peralta Theater as piano accompanist in the José Adán Pérez concert, the notable Japanese artist Michiyo Morikawa will teach an intensive course of solfeggio. The classes will be free on Monday, the 26th and Tuesday, the 27th of June at the School Superior of Music of Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan.
The course will be held from 10 am to 11:30 am and will be directed to the students of the School of Music of the Instituto de Cultura. Capacity is limited to twenty people and interested parties must register in the Academic Coordination department.
The aim of the course is to increase the musical heritage of the students and prepare them through the experiences that the talented pianist has accumulated in her touring for more than half a dozen countries.
Michiyo Morikawa graduated from Toho Gakuen School, under the direction of Professor Yoriko Takahashi and has a Master´s Degree in the "Manhattan School of Music" under the direction of Karl Ulrich Schnabel, the son of famous pianist Arthur Schnabel.
Currently, she resides in New York where she plays an intense pedagogical work at the Third Street Music School Settlement and the Greenwich House Music School and acts as pianist accompanist in assemblies and concerts beside artists like Mazatlecan baritone José Adam Perez.
Maestra Morikawa has received numerous awards, among them the first prize and the special prize for composer in the 12th "Premi Ciutat de Berga" competition of piano in Catalonia, Spain; the 6th prize in the "World Piano Competition" in the United States; the special prize for "Spanish Music" in the Ignacio Cervantes Contest, in Habana, Cuba; first prize in the JAA in New York; first place for piano in the 3rd Young Soloists Contest in Mexico City, and 2nd place in the 1st National Competition for Piano in the "City of Xalapa" in Veracruz, among others.
As soloist, she has performed in countries such as Japan, Argentina, Finland, Mexico, the United States, Italy and Costa Rica, among others, where they have praised her mastery of instrumental technique and has been awarded the recognition of "Diploma of Honorary Artist" by the University of Guadalajara.
