Graduates from the Theater Workshop with "Lejos, Volar"

The sixth generation of the Theater Workshop of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan had its graduation on Wednesday, on the stage of the Angela Peralta Theater, with the performance of the play "Lejos, Volar" by the playwright Gibran Portela.

Students Heidy Fuentes and Fernanda Castro represented "Luisa" and "Sarah", two sisters who meet again at their childhood home to receive their father´s inheritance and are forced to recall the moments of happiness and pain from their past.

With a fragmented narrative that passed from the present to the past, the actresses were forced to act like girls and young women, to give flashes of innocence and resentment, to bear witness to the childhood fear of darkness or nightmares and also, of the dread that can be experienced as an adult when facing emotional wounds.

Along with them, actor Yonshesko Blandela, student of the Technical Career in Theater, offered a chameleonic interpretation: narrator, father, lawyer, mother, all at the same time according to the moment of the work.

Along with the performances, a minimalist type of scenery was highlighted: a small circular stage that together with props such as wire mannequins, photographic prints or old telephones created the world of this work that revolved around the loss of innocence and pains of growth that every human being is forced to experience when a family breaks down.

In addition, the work of Elena Vega as set designer and lighting designer (along with the advice of Antonio Serratos) was another of the elements highlighted in "Lejos, Volar" filling this work directed by maestro Ramón Gómez Polo with colorful and dramatic effects.

At the end of the work, maestro Gómez Polo and Juan Manuel Flores, Director of the School of Arts of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan, gave their recognitions to Heidy Fuentes and Fernanda Castro as graduates of the Sixth Generation of the Theater Workshop of the nstituto de Cultura de Mazatlan.
