A las siete de la noche el jardín interior del edificio  habitado actualmente por 22 niñas – aunque la población es flotante porque hay nuevos ingresos, o algunas son adoptadas-  se llenó de espectadores norteamericanos y mazatlecos que acudieron al llamado del Patronato del Orfanatorio presidido por Gabriela Ramírez.

Las diez integrantes del patronato tocaron el corazón de amigos, familiares y personas cercanas por lazos laborales y, mediante la venta de boletos para el concierto, consiguieron fondos para solventar las necesidades de programas específicos del orfanato, en donde sus habitantes reciben amor, asesoría psicológica, atención médica,  educación, techo y alimento.

Para la realización del evento fue fundamental el apoyo del Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán dirigido por Raúl Rico González, quien en palabras de las organizadoras hizo posible el concierto “De  Bach a Broadway” a cargo de la Camerata Mazatlán bajo la batuta del maestro Percival Álvarez.

Integrada por músicos de formación clásica, la Camerata consiguió muchos aplausos  y el reconocimiento del público con el repertorio elegido especialmente para el concierto con fines altruistas.

La agrupación inició con el Concierto para 2 violines y orquesta de cuerdas en re menor de J.S. Bach  y siguió con un repaso de algunos de los momentos más brillantes y conmovedores de los musicales más taquilleros de Broadway.

La audiencia se deleitó con la música de West side story, de Leonard Bernstein;  el Hombre de la Mancha, de Mitch Leigh,  hasta la música de los Locos Adams de Andrew Lippa; Jesucristo super estrella y el Fantasma de la Ópera de Andrew Lloyd Webber, sin duda el musical más taquillero de todos los tiempos.

Les Miserables de Claud Schönberg y Cats de Andrew Lloyd Webber  evocaron  el poder de la música para remover conciencias y ponderar el valor de los sueños, la esperanza de renacer a un mundo mejor  y  la interminable lucha en defensa de los desfavorecidos en el mundo.

Previo al concierto  Gloria López Gavito aclaró que el dinero recaudado en el concierto servirá para pagar todo el tratamiento psicológico de las niñas del Orfanatorio,  y admitió que  reciben otros ingresos de donadores locales y extranjeros que cada mes aportan su granito de arena  para gastos de alimentación de las moradoras de la casa.

They played to help the Mazatlan Orphanage

On a cool night bathed in the light March winds and a faint amber and green light that seemed to climb on three old trees from the ground up, the Camerata Mazatlán gave a splendid concert for the benefit of the Orfanatorio Mazatlan.

At seven in the evening the interior garden of the building currently inhabited by 22 girls - although the population is changing because there are new children, and some are adopted - was filled with North American and Mazatlecan spectators who came to the call of the Orphanage Board chaired by Gabriela Ramírez.

The ten members of the board touched the hearts of friends, relatives and people close to them through work ties and, through the sale of tickets for the concert, they obtained funds to solve the needs of specific programs of the orphanage, where its inhabitants receive love, psychological counseling , medical attention, education, shelter and food.

For the realization of the event, the support of the Instituto de cultura de Mazatlan led by Raúl Rico González, who in the words of the organizers made the concert "From Bach to Broadway" by the Camerata Mazatlán under the baton of Percival Álvarez, was fundamental.

Composed of classical musicians, the Camerata received a lot of applause and the recognition of the audience with the repertoire chosen especially for the concert with altruistic aims.

The group started with the Concerto for 2 Violin and String Orchestra in D minor by J.S. Bach and followed with a review of some of the brightest and most moving moments of Broadway´s top-grossing musicals.

The audience delighted with the music of West Side Story, by Leonard Bernstein; the Man of La Mancha, by Mitch Leigh, to the music of Crazy Adams by Andrew Lippa; Jesus Christ Super Star and the Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, undoubtedly the highest grossing musical of all time.

Les Miserables by Claud Schönberg and Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber evoke the power of music to stir consciences and ponder the value of dreams, the hope of rebirth to a better world and the endless struggle in defense of the disadvantaged in the world.

Prior to the concert, Gloria López Gavito clarified that the money raised at the concert will pay for all the psychological treatment of the girls in the Orphanage, and admitted that they receive other income from local and foreign donors who each month contribute their bit for food expenses of the children of the house.
