FESTIVAL JOSÉ LIMÓN


Surge en 1986 con el objetivo de promover y difundir en el estado de Sinaloa la figura y legado artístico de José Limón. Fundado por iniciativa de Héctor Chávez, cuenta con la presencia de destacados creadores y ejecutantes de la danza contemporánea en el ámbito nacional e internacional. 

Las actividades del festival se realizan principalmente en el Teatro Pablo de Villavicencio, la Sala Lumiére y el Ágora Rosario Castellanos de Culiacán; el Teatro Ángela Peralta de Mazatlán y el Teatro José Ángel Espinoza Ferrusquilla de Los Mochis.

 En el marco del festival se entregan los premios Culiacán de Coreografía y Nacional de Danza José Limón. También se realizan exposiciones y presentaciones de libros, el Encuentro de Academias, un baile popular, residencias artísticas y un ensamble con bailarines de todo el país.

Su organización es apoyada por  el Instituto Sinaloense de Cultura, los institutos municipales de Cultura en Sinaloa,  la Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa y CONACULTA, a través de la Coordinación Nacional de Danza del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes.

FESTIVAL JOSÉ LIMÓN

The Festival Jose Limon was created in 1986 in order to promote and disseminate the figure and artistic legacy of José Limón in the State of Sinaloa. Founded on the initiative of Héctor Chávez, it boasts the presence of prominent creators and performers of contemporary dance at the national and international level.

The festival activities are carried out mainly in the Pablo de Villavicencio Theater, la Lumière Room and the Agora Rosario Castellanos de Culiacan; the Angela Peralta Theater of Mazatlan and the José Ángel Espinoza Ferrusquilla Theater in Los Mochis.

The José Limón Culiacan of Choreography and National Dance Awards are delivered in the framework of the festival. Exhibitions and presentations of books, the meeting of academies, a popular dance, artist residencies and assembly are performed with dancers from all over the country.

Its organization is supported by the Sinaloa Institute of Culture, the Municipal Institutes of Culture in Sinaloa, the Autonomous University of Sinaloa and CONACULTA, through the national coordination of dance of the National Institute of Fine Arts.
