En el escenario los jóvenes músicos se prepararon con trompetas, clarinetes, congas, saxofones, batería y piano para despertar una ola de aplausos del público que esperaba con entusiasmo el regreso de este programa que el maestro celebró con un pequeño discurso.

“Año con año el programa Cultura en tu Casa logra que presentaciones artísticas lleguen a diferentes colonias con el fin de compartir, en este caso, música del género de jazz. Al no ser frecuente escuchar este género en el puerto está es una excelente oportunidad para darlo a conocer”.

La velada consistió en un repertorio con clásicos como “In the Mood”, de Glen Miller, una pieza de la década de los cuarenta donde el swing se bailaba en cada esquina y se extendió hasta temas pop con arreglos jazzeros como “Thriller”, de Michael Jackson, cuando el “Rey de Pop” estaba en lo más alto de su carrera como solista. 

Entre cada pieza el maestro hizo breves pausas para compartir un poco del contexto histórico de las canciones, para trasladar al público a la época en que la pieza fue compuesta. 

El talento de los músicos de la Escuela de Artes de Mazatlán se demostró en cada pieza: la pasión se reflejó en “Have you ever seen the rain” de la banda de los setenta Creedence; “Fly me to the moon”, mejor conocida por la versión del incomparable Frank Sinatra, trasladó a la audiencia a la década de los sesenta y un pequeño tributo al cubano Dámaso Pérez Prado fue el broche de oro de esta noche jazzera. 

Para todos aquellos interesados en disfrutar otra noche musical, este viernes el programa Cultura en tu Casa continúa en la colonia López Mateos con el Grupo Escala de Percusiones, dirigida por el maestro Manuel Rocha a las 20:00 horas.

Colonia Lopez Mateos applauds the rhythm of the Jazz Band

The Cultura en tu Casa program, a way of bringing art events to the popular colonies of the port, took the activities of the Mazatlán Cultural Festival 2017 to the colonia Lopez Mateos with the Jazz Band of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan directed by the maestro Carlos Betanzos .

On stage, the young musicians prepared trumpets, clarinets, congas, saxophones, drums and piano to awaken a wave of applause from the audience that was eagerly awaiting the return of this program that the maestro celebrated with a short speech.
