Maureen es una joven estadounidense que vive temporalmente en París por la reciente muerte de su hermano Lewis. Para poder pagar su estancia, ella se desempeña como “Compradora personal”, de una estrella francesa del espectáculo.
Maureen, al igual que su hermano recientemente fallecido, tiene la capacidad de comunicarse con los fantasmas, y desea permanecer en la ciudad y visitar el lugar en el que murió su hermano buscando hacer contacto con él, pero comienza a recibir mensajes amenazantes procedentes de una fuente desconocida.
Más allá del tono de “thriller”, el relato se convierte en un intenso drama sobre la pérdida y la desolación, la soledad, la alineación y la insatisfacción personal. Una realización que por su gran logro artístico, le dio a Oliver Assayas el Premio Mejor Director en el Festival de Cannes.
Escritor, guionista, crítico y director, Oliver Assayas debuta en el campo del largometraje en 1994 con la película “Agua fría”, presentada en la Sección Una Cierta Mirada, Cannes.
En 1996 dirige la que hasta la fecha sigue siendo su filme más exitoso “Irma Vep”. Entre sus trabajos más reconocidos destacan: “Los destinos sentimentales” (2000), “Carlos” (2010), sobre uno de los terroristas más buscados de la Historia; “Las horas del verano” (2008), ganadora del Premio a Mejor Película en Lengua Extranjera, por el círculo de Críticos de Cine de Nueva York, y “Viaje a Sils Maria” (2014), ganadora del Premio Louis Delluc en el Festival de Cannes. “Fantasmas del pasado” (2016), es su trabajo más reciente.

"Ghosts of the Past" by Olivier Assayas, will be shown in the Cinema of Cultura
With the screening of the film "Ghosts of the Past" by the prestigious director Olivier Assayas, the Cycle: "France: Alma Mater" will be concluded this Saturday at the cinema of the School of Arts of Cultura, a sample of the best works of French cinematography, the cinema par excellence.
